I am Valery Teumena, coming from Cameroon and i am the product manager for a fintech hear for two years now.

I started having interest in product management when i started as a customer success in this same fintech and till then i am the product manager there and also the product manager in one online booking teacher plate-forme which is still under construction. The envie of becominh a product manager came out when i noticed what is expected from a product manager and what are the key roles and responsabilities he have to accomplish. So i put in mind that, for every product which i will be in charge, the out come have to be helpfull to the designated users and accepted by my team.

I work for a fintech here who has as main product the virtual Xaf cards which has the main aim to improve the practice of online payments to African residents in all security. Also the new features which is rescently added is the bank and cash deposit methode to make a recharge of your account directly, which for the moment we are the only company having it in our App.

My key responsability is to define the product strategy in accordance to the company’s vision and vision. This include the putting in place and realisation of the product roadmap and the prioritization of features also, bug resolutions and reported cases following up.

For a New product to be build, i do all the researches and gather all the infos related to the desired product, then i build a présentation document which i send to the board of directors for validation, after the idea behind the product is validated, i see with the marketing, Customer success and KYC team as such as the treasury and the compliance team once everyone has gotten the idea and shared relevant infos for product improvement, i start the writing of the spec document and the PRD, then continue with the acceptance criteria and the user stories before sending to the project manager and the QA for them to do their own part. And the rest of the work is done in an agile environnement using a Project management tool to ease management.

I get the desired product from online search, interviews, surveys and usability testing.

I do not forget in my PRD to state the metrics that demonstrate success of the features, i also include KPI for the data side, and a method to track user retention.

I collaborate with cross functional teams such as the board of directors, the compliance, the treasury, the design, the marketing, the Customer success, the KYC success team and the technical team so as to bring in clarifications on a related problem.

I emphasize my commitment to continue the improvement and adaptation based on user feedback and market trends. By doing this, i have product analytic tools which help to adapt user needs and market dynamics.

As a product manager, i was able to conduct the realisation of a new product from conception to release, this is through collaboration with cross functional teams. Also knowing more about users needs through the Customers success and marketing, also knowing what are the laws and regulations concerned by the user and the product by collaborating with the compliance team.
